Scholarships play a major role in making education more accessible to a broader range of students, including those who might face financial barriers. By offering financial assistance, scholarships aim to reduce the financial burden on students and their families, allowing them to pursue higher education or specialised training without being overly burdened by the costs associated with tuition, books, and other educational expenses.
In Newfoundland and Labrador aspiring early childhood educators (ECEs) are able to apply for the following scholarship opportunities:
Joanne Juteau Early Childhood Education Scholarship
Joanne Juteau was known for her contributions to the Early Learning and Child Care Sector, inspiring and providing support to many Early Childhood Educators within the field. The Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL) awards this annually to a NL resident ECE student who is going into the second year of study (or equivalent) in an ECE Diploma program from a provincially recognised post-secondary institution. This is valued at $500.00.
